This work is part of my Lucky series, created in homage to my family heritage. The four-leaf clover and the rabbit's foot, objects that symbolize luck in our collective imagination, appear in each work and represent the literal meaning of my last name. The rabbits also refer to the hutches of my grandfather Lachance (Lucky in french). Their eyes are painted with greater precision and detail, emphasizing the rabbits' gaze and also evoking ophthalmology, the profession my father practiced throughout his life.

Marie-Eve Lachance has always been passionate about the visual arts. During her visual arts degree, she was encouraged to move outside her comfort zone by experimenting with different styles. She soon discovered a fascination for abstraction. It was a turning point in her artistic career, which continues to evolve to this day. She has always painted with tremendous passion and sensitivity. Inspired primarily by childhood memories, she looks for ways to depict emotional moments in her work. With intuitive movements, chromatic richness and attention to detail, her paintings subtly denote evocative elements that leave the observer free to interpret them based on the feelings they evoke. Each painting has its own story. Marie-Eve approaches every piece with a careful logic. She first prepares a structure of vertical and horizontal planes that she then breaks up with gestural, spontaneous forms. Layers of paint are superimposed and punctuated with grattage to release the colours beneath, creating paintings of beautiful intensity and texture. Her pieces are full of movement and complexity, with trickling opaque and transparent lines. She includes collage objects to bring depth and dimension. Ornaments and touches of colour with fine brushwork add to the chromatic contrasts. Marie-Eve spends many hours on each piece, building layer upon layer, with each brush stroke inspired by the last, until she finally feels satisfied that she’s achieved the balance she’s looking for.
