While hiking in the Lost Maples State Park, Anastasia came across this landscape and immediately knew that it will be the subject of her debut painting. This tree had the appearance of burning, especially when juxtapositioned against the greenery. This painting was created in May 2022, during a very upsetting time for the artist: Roe vs. Wade was on the verge of being overturned, Environmental Scientists were protesting the lack of action from the government, Wynn Bruce even set himself on fire due to lack of attention from the media and the public on the environmental protests. Anastasia wanted to capture her anger and frustration over powerlessness of this period. This painting is a critique on our society: the viewer can't help but admire the beauty of the painting, while main object is imploding. This artwork was featured in the “Disconnect” Virtual Exhibition hosted by the Holy Art Gallery from June 5th - 11th Lost in the Maples is a debut painting in the Texas Landmarks Collection. The state of Texas is so beautiful and is home to many unique and often-forgotten landmarks. In this collection, Anastasia captures the beauty of Texas through the use of vivid color and impasto in order to encourage others to visit and admire these protected scenes. Lost in the Maples was inspired by the vivacious Maple trees in the Lost Maples State National Area. Located in Vanderpool, TX, just two hours northwest of the San Antonio area, the state park offers 10 miles of hiking trails through wildflowers, maples trees, steep canyon walls, and scenic views of the Sabinal River. Anastasia Prymachenko, a Ukrainian-American artist residing in San Antonio, Texas, radiates creativity. Her journey is a vivid canvas, painted with the hues of impressionism and post-impressionism, brought to life through her oil sketches and paintings. Anastasia’s work dances on the edge of emotion. Her paintings burst forth with vibrant color and impasto, each brushstroke narrating tales of movement, life, and her perception of the world. She employs vivid colors and schemes to create vibrant landscapes filled with intricate detail. The impasto technique is employed to accentuate specific elements of her paintings, adding depth and dimension. The sprawling plains and lingering sunsets of Texas landscapes serve as fuel for Anastasia’s creativity. She captures the beauty of rolling hills and wildflowers swaying in the breeze, translating them onto her canvas. Landscapes pulse through her work, a recurring theme that grounds her to the earth. Impressionism is not a relic of the past; it’s a pulse that reverberates through time. Anastasia’s work stands as a testament to this enduring appeal. As you behold her paintings, you see the world through her eyes—a world where colors clash, emotions whirl, and beauty pirouettes in every stroke. Anastasia Prymachenko’s journey is a symphony of creativity, and her art beckons us to join in the chorus.
