Born in Taiwan and based in Los Angeles, I am a multidisciplinary artist whose work bridges the quiet discipline of Eastern tradition with the experimental energy of Western abstraction. My practice is rooted in the calligraphic brushwork learned from my mother—a traditional Chinese painter—balanced against my formal training in fine arts and experimental animation at Otis College and CalArts. Before returning to my first love of painting, I led a distinguished career as an independent filmmaker, producing and directing over ten international documentaries for major global channels, including National Geographic, Discovery, and NHK. In 2012, I also founded Studio 2224 in Taipei, an alternative art space dedicated to cross-disciplinary collaborations between international artists. Today, I focus on the "layering" of memory and geography, using encaustic (hot wax), ink, and charcoal to deconstruct landscapes into meditative states. My work serves as a personal ritual, seeking stillness and grounding within the chaotic flow of a globalized life. I invite you to step into these "in-between" spaces and explore the textures of time, heritage, and human fragility.
