In many cultures, the lotus is a sacred and revered flower. In ancient Rome, the lotus flower was considered the flower of Apollo. Among the Greeks, this flower was considered the flower of love of Zeus and Hera. In Egypt, the lotus was associated with ideas about fertility and productive power, about death and resurrection. In China, the lotus flower was revered as a sacred plant, even before the spread of Buddhism. In India, a lotus flower is still depicted on the coat of arms. Indeed, the significance of the lotus in all religions and cultures is only positive. This is not surprising, because the flower itself is incredibly beautiful and mysterious.
