In this body of work tearing, cutting, destroying and mending are central and fundamental to my working process and the emotionally charged end process, hence emphasis is on the actual process of the making of the artwork. (Tearing representing all the damage poverty, disease, women abuse, gender inequality, racism, tribalism, political genocides, etc has inflicted on all peoples across all cultures, whilst the mending and stitching and the indiscreet stapling resonates with the forgiveness and healing and restoration process we need to save humanity.) this work is expected to be somewhat therapeutic in reaction to the pain, turmoil, grief, shame, hurt and hate that has been caused by tragedies in human history, _ women abuse, war crimes, genocides, child marriage war and poverty etc…

Peter Musami is a mixed media visual artist practicing in Harare, Zimbabwe, from late 2000s. With influences derived from nature, contemporary affairs, societal culture and music, he has developed as a painter and sculptor whose work is not necessarily a quest for new art-forms, but rather a pursuit of discovering and demonstrating different dimensions to the already established art genres of mixed-media assemblage and abstract paintings. With a signature concept of vibrant oil colours and intricate shades of bold lines on canvasses, Musami’s abstract expressionist paintings depict a story of his life experiences and contemporary culture in an attractive and subtlety exotic way. Peter Musami attended the National Gallery of Zimbabwe School of Visual Arts and Design, from 2012 to 2013, and graduated at the top of his class, receiving the best student award in 2012 and the outstanding student award in 2013. During this time, he further polished his touch in assemblage and painting through exposure to critics and tutelage, as well as through cross-pollination of ideas and techniques from other established art genres, albeit, maintaining his originality and unique appeal. Musami’s work has been exhibited over the years in various solo and group exhibitions in Harare, Johannesburg and Cape Town, receiving acclaim from local media and many critical observers.
