Meeting place Painting

Catherine was blessed to grow up on 4500 acres of untouched wilderness in the Australian bush and was profoundly shaped by her relationship with it. Her art is strongly shaped by this connection to wild places and the freedom and emotion it inspires within. Catherine is keenly aware of the loss of man’s connectedness to Creation, often seen in the disregard of the natural environment. She uses landscape elements and occasionally allegorical iconography to showcase this struggle and to highlight humanities need for wild places. Artists who have inspired her include William Turner, Anslem Kiefer and Euan Macleod who use landscape to symbolise man’s quest for the spiritual and our place in the greater cosmos.
