Edward Trost has more than 30 years’ experience in the arts, working in a variety of media including ceramics, large scale sculpture, and animated feature films. In his portraiture, Trost renders his subject’s likeness as a collection of scorched tones, utilising a pyrographic technique to create individual burn marks on plywood. He selects subjects who have faced mental health challenges with inner strength and resilience.
