About The Artwork
Monhegan Island off the coast of Maine has inspired artists for many years. Rockwell Kent painted here and all the Wyeths. After a short ferry ride from the mainland you approach the rocky coast. Here I tried to capture the energy of the waves crashing on the rocks. It is painted entirely with a palette knife. This is part of a series of Maine paintings I'm working on based on the photographs of Tom Kretsch called Touching Maine for an upcoming show.
