About The Artwork
Hybrid animals that probably talk is where this spirit creature lives. He is a part of a selection of creatures inspired by the shapeshifters that Japanese yokai (or any nature spirits) can be. He was created with others, but strong as a stand alone piece. He is approximately 40cm (14 inches) tall with legs as they are in the photos and 30cm (12 inches) wide, also with bent arms (as he is in the photos). He is articulated. He has been painted with gouache on 600gsm acid free, Sanders and Waterford watercolour paper. He is white on the back. Signed and stamped.

Emma Kidd graduated from art school (TAFE: Associate Diploma; print-making / photography) in 1994. She had residencies in Italy (Barga / Lucca) with Swietlan Kraczyna print making, then at Studio Camnitzer where she was able to combine both her loves at the same time learning photographic multi-plate colour etching. After various graphic designer jobs, travel, child, she found her voice again in painting. She is known for her off-beat articulated creatures and strange groupings of creatures. She was awarded a year long studio residency at the Creative Space in Freshwater, NSW for 2019.
