About Spring of 2004 a friend and I were touring the East Cavalry Battlefield in Gettysburg at about sunset photographing landscape image for possible future historical painting projects.  While walking about, I came upon a farm which had a small group of horses: adults with their foals grazing in the evening sun. This painting is the first of a series of scenes I have painted that focus on this group of horses.
