ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The series of self-portraits was created at the height of the raging coronavirus pandemic. It is a very personal response of the painter to the world around him getting weirder and weirder, as well as a record of his emotions and experiences - anxiety, longing, frustration related to closing the borders and canceling the planned trip to the United States. In addition to personal threads, the cycle also contains references to the movie "The Man Who Fell to Earth". Piotr Szczur does not focus on presenting specific places existing in the USA - instead he creates a compilation, a collage of remembered motifs, buildings, roads and signs, which he has seen live or which he knows from photos and videos. Realism, spatial relations - all this becomes irrelevant. An ominous, monumental figure, shaved bald, wearing a black suit and holding a briefcase towers over this imaginary scenery. It grows larger and larger with each painting, completely dominating the landscape into which it has been pasted. The painterly alter-ego of Piotr Szczur becomes a personification of the pandemic itself, a visual representation of something disturbing and at the same time it is a very creative and developing motif.

SHIPPING AND RETURNS
Delivery Time:

Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

The trip to the USA that I made in 2015 had a significant impact on my work. I changed the style and theme of my paintings. On Route 66, I felt a freedom that redefined my art. American culture is an inexhaustible source of inspiration for me - both in terms of the subject and the search for new formal solutions. My favorite frame for my paintings is 1:1. This is currently the only restriction I have imposed on myself.
