Beautyfools series takes into account the circumstances of most women's lives as householders, workers, caregivers, mothers and friends, spiced up with a bit of sarcasm. More often, about women's power in arenas of which sexuality is an important part, since as a woman, I have always been particularly interested in what make us different from males. My own friends worked with me as inspiration, and models, in this collection I call BEAUTYFOOLS, each of them as a thought to de-gender the art of flirt, love, and, or just be. Quite literally chest open, exposed, with open hearts. Confident, strong women who could do a cheese sandwich for a living but stand up individually and can have fun, this diverse group proves that new stereotypes and new faces can come from everywhere, sometimes being missunderstood. Women accused, because of cheating or chatting, feeling strong, looking stronger, more or less looking forward to be seen as the flavor of the moment. I can be inspired by tons of people, but to go into a subject, I have to explore the images that exist at the root of myself, in a raw and emotional way. With some help from this perfect Wiki-Google-You Tube-social networks era I tried to paint the most adventurous ones while being open with my influences. At the same time there is material incorporated from a range of cultural sources, as just mentioned, to the pop paintings of Richard Phillips and George Condo, or nude portraits from Gordon Thy. Translating into flat, slick surfaces, work the images, oil painting on canvas. Often cropping the body from each figure, scaling them up and re-situate them against another background, mostly neutral. Staring or confronting the viewer, they become an accesible icon of contemporary power. Recently exhibited the new series of paintings, SPF15. web site:
