Ireland
Born and raised in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Steve Geary is a contemporary artist working primarily in oil with work covering a wide range of subject mater from people and animals to buildings and landscapes. Steve recently had work selected by the RUA for exhibition in the Ulster Museum Academy exhibition 17/18. His unique style and sense of movement expressed through bold colours and displaced lines creates a consistent and instantly recognisable look. This signature style often evokes a sense that the artist visualizes a flickering moment in time stopped only for the purpose to capture the image before disappearing again. Originally training as a graphic designer Steve always held a fond place in his heart for art and illustration which he carried into his everyday projects. In his mid twenties Steve began to paint for pleasure but soon found that there was a high demand for his work in a professional capacity as he began to sell pieces regularly. For several years Steve sold individual pieces both through galleries and private commissions. In 2007 after a successful solo exhibition selling almost thirty pieces on the opening night Steve decided to take a break from painting and concentrate on the formation of his design agency, Forme Studio. In the following years Forme Studio grew from strength to strength and despite the often difficult financial climate a quickly positioned itself as a highly respected agency. Having established an impressive portfolio of work and clients with Forme Studio, Steve began to think about returning to painting and after seven years away finally put brush to canvas with a bold new style derived from years of contemplation.
