ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In my work, I am more interested in my subject's personal power and matters of the heart rather than appearance. My newest body of work references the Japanese art of Kintsugi, repairing broken objects with gold, the objects becoming more beautiful for the damage. I urge the viewer to consider their own damage in this manner.

My current paintings are an exploration of self-perception and interconnection. With our years of pandemic experience, the majority of our interactions moved online, we are now relying on our phones and devices more than ever. My latest work is an exploration of our virtual self and our relationship with our devices as the source of virtual connection with others. All surfaces used in this series are discarded broken iPhone screens and iPad screens. These once cherished 'windows to the world,' will permanently display an image of eyes, the 'windows to the soul'.
