NEON FOREST Painting

I have been painting landscapes for years and was somewhat frustrated by the preponderance of earth colours I was using. These stripe paintings have liberated me from that, allowing me to paint pure colour. As well as variety of colour, the brushwork allows variety in the stripes, not only in their colour but also their length, opacity, hard or fuzzy edges, thick or thin paint, width, whether they are anchored by the edges of the canvas or float freely. There is much to explore. The name Neon Forest suggested itself; it implies a merging of landscape with modern urban environments. I like to have colour or (sometimes blank canvas) showing through the top paint as it adds an extra dimension of space as well as unexpected colour combinations. As the background is pale grey/blue, I used blue stripes and varied the colour in each one, also creating more colour between the stripes.
