Francesco Masala was born in Genoa Sestri Ponente on 13 July 1949. Already during his school years, he demonstrated a certain aptitude towards drawing and art in general. His father Antonio Masala, also a painter, after having attended the Ligustica Academy of Fine Arts in Genoa, taught him the first rudiments of drawing and the use of colors. Having reached adulthood, Francesco also attended the Ligustica Academy, undertaking his real artistic career, first through figurative art and drawing and then seeking his own artistic path dictated by his own tendencies, sensitivity, and expressions. Now, without completely abandoning figurative art, he is tending towards hyperrealism, dedicating himself to his own style built over time. In the 70s he held his first personal exhibition with success from the public and critics. At the beginning of the 80s, a serious vision problem prevented him from assiduously continuing the artistic path he had undertaken. In 2013, a surgery allowed him to completely recover his sight and start painting again...
