"All Saints of Japanese TV" series is a first result of my 18 months in Tokyo, Japan. As I do not speak much Japanese, my experience of Japanese culture was limited to what my brain could do with all the rough data my senses collected. Even though I haven't understood much of the dialogs, very popular and starred by many Japanese celebrities TV series "Atsu Hime" (Princess Atsu) become my favourite evening pass time. Action set in Edo period known for flowering arts and crafts, delivered spectacular scenes in beautiful interiors and gardens with heroes perfectly dressed and styled in most flamboyand Japanese style. As I didn't understand much of the drama, I started to name heroes by christian Saint's names, according to how I imagine them when it comes to character expressed in facial features and style. St Anna is a person who shared Mary's secret about her son being concieved out of the wedlock and expected savior of humanity. She also new her own son to be expected to support Jesus and suffer for it. Humble and composed face of Nakajima Tomoko was a face of St Anna to me. Artwork is oil on plywood 70x100cm. Plywood and wooden canvas are visible from the side, but object should not be framed - open form and visible structure is a part of design. Small technical flaws are welcome in my works, as matherial perfection I leave to manufacturing. I built canvas myself from the scratch and so it is not perfect and at closer look you can see joints and nail's heads. It does not disturb the harmony of the whole object however, and I see it as a additional value of my personal touch.

Most of the highly celebrated art is about discovering new or commenting on current pressing matters, but my art is about simple everyday willingness to live. I paint because this gives me purpose and joy – it’s like humming nice song for a hundredth time, even thou there were many covers before; preparing favorite drink for a friend and myself, to enjoy it again in a new glass perhaps; dressing up for no occasion, just to look and feel good; caressing a lover… I wish it was the same for recipients of my art – everyday pleasure in experiencing it. Like a book that you red many times, yet you still reach for it; dish that you always order in that place that is there forever... Repeatable, often classic topics; favorite color palette; small and big things that makes us want to live, even thou world can be such an ugly place. I want my art to make it better - even for a moment, even in a tiny way. I want it to remind myself and others that it's worth to try everyday...
