Acrylic & Oil on Canvas 76x61cm, Framed As technology advances at a rapid pace, human beings may soon be able to fully replicate and transfer brain data. This means that our brains and consciousness can be completely copied onto new substrates, allowing us to extend our lives, or even achieve a form of “Immortality". However, this prospect also raises a troubling question: when our brains and consciousness are fully transferred to a new substrate, are we still "ourselves"? What is the connection between the copy and the original? Can we still maintain our sense of self-identity and continuity? This state of “No longer being you, yet still being you" is profoundly bewildering. We cannot be certain whether our current self will disappear completely during the transfer process, only to be replaced by a completely new “SELF”. This uncertainty of identity is inevitably accompanied by a sense of panic and helplessness. While we may not be able to fully confirm our state of existence, we can still maintain the deep-rooted core of our inner self. Even as external changes occur, the essence of our spirit, emotions, and personality traits may still persist, serving as the spiritual foundation that supports us as we move forward. In this uncertain era, perhaps we should focus more on our inner self, rather than being overly attached to external forms. Only when we can recognise and cherish the eternal, unchanging core within, can we find the anchor point for our self in the midst of this technological revolution, and continue our journey forward.

Norris Yim, A Self-taught Painter B. 1989 Hong Kong Norris Yim is a self-taught artist filled with creativity and curiosity. Although he has never received formal art training, his love and persistence for art have gradually enabled him to establish his unique artistic style. His works mainly focus on abstract paintings, with his "Nameless" series of abstract portraits being the most renowned. In this series, he explores the subtle relationship between shape, color, and emotion, striving to express his inner feelings through visual language. He demonstrates a profound understanding of form, color, and materials. His creative process is full of exploration and reflection. He constantly experiments with different approaches, not limiting himself to representational or abstract creation. He places great emphasis on the use of materials and the exploration of texture. He employs a variety of media, such as paint, thickening agents, sand, and stones, allowing the interaction between materials and forms to enhance the tension and expressive power of his works, while also allowing the inherent characteristics of the materials to resonate with the artwork. At the same time, he often tries new techniques and creative methods, breaking through the boundaries of traditional art and displaying an infinite imagination for art. These works are not only a visual expression but also an extension of emotion, allowing viewers to experience an inner resonance while appreciating them. Looking ahead, he plans to constantly pursue innovation, challenge traditional creative approaches, and explore more possibilities. He believes that art is infinite, and every creative process is a new adventure. He looks forward to bringing more surprises and inspirations to the audience through his future works.
