ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The third work in a new series of oil paintings of human and animal forms containing complex natural landscapes. The intention is to create symbolic links with the natural world and all of it's inhabitants, whether human beings or animals, in a unified visual language. This translates to our universal need to work in harmony with the world's fragile ecosystem. After experimenting with several colour schemes for this series, I settled on this mix of blues, greens and subtle shades of reds, which give the works a haunting quality. “NATURA FORMA” SERIES STATEMENT This series of surreal oil paintings explores the embodiment of nature through human and animal forms. These works make full use of negative space and restricted colour schemes to create intriguing and powerful images. The intention is to create symbolic links with the natural world and it's inhabitants, whether human beings or animals, into a unified visual language. These paintings are metaphorical images exploring the universal connections of life, within the landscape of the natural world. "Natura Forma" is an ongoing series started in the winter of 2022...
