Of Polish ancestry, Rolf Rafflewski was born in 1943 in Hanau Germany, He began to paint at the age of twelve,and exhibited for the first time when he was sixteen. After an apprenticeship in Graphic Arts at an Advertising Studio, following of course work at Staatlichen Zeichenakademie of Hanau and attendance at the Werkkunstschule of Offenbach he opened his own studio A second apprenticeship as an advertising artist and designer completed his training prior to his departure for Paris in 1961 He did Drawings and paintings in Montmatre and on the streets demonstrating great virtuosity and also spontaneous freshness He has shown at many galleries in France and internationally and in 1973 had the honor of seeing his works exhibited at the Cabinet des Estampes ( Print Department ) of the French Bibliotheque Nationale
