The artist is no angler, but her boyfriend is obsessed. He does all sorts of fishing but the current thing is fishing the Bristol Channel off the shore, this leads to all sorts of strange trips at random hours because it all depends on the tide, and time and tide wait for no man. So the artist just goes along for the trip and the experience, what better experience than to spend a night watching the sun go down and then eventually rising, sleeping on and off laid out on the reefs. The thing with fishing is that it takes you to places you would never otherwise know. Oil and cold wax on cradled wooden panel.

b 1971 UK Self taught artist working with many mediums but liking paint the best. Painting is just a language that I am more comfortable with, it has an honesty, it is what it is. My work is very unprocessed, direct, I don't see as I paint , just look at it sometime later, then start again or leave it alone until another time. I work with layers, building them up and scraping back, finding stuff I had forgotten about, the painting starts to get interesting, to develop its own past. The word paintings write themselves with no restraint, if I'm not sure I keep writing over, but ultimately the words, however buried, have been said.
