No. 038 Painting

My artistic style has been influenced by many artists, movements, styles and theories. I like the 'back to basics' approach from Mondrian and his De Stijl Movement but equally Frank Stella's proposition 'What you see, is what you see', a formalist attitude which put forward that a work of art is exactly what you see and nothing more. Although I do not completely support the latter idea, I do see merrit in it. The following is a quote from Vered Aviv (The Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance), Abstract art frees our brain from the dominance of reality, enabling it to flow within its inner states, create new emotional and cognitive associations, and activate brain-states that are otherwise harder to access (Vered Aviv, Front Hum Neurosci. 2014; 8: 85).
