No. 3 (after Newman) Painting

My paintings are mainly of fruits and vegetables. I set them out with order and geometry to present a vivid colour experience. I love the ordinary everyday things in life and show them in a different way for a fresh look at them. I aim to elevate the mundane. The paintings are supplemented by ink drawings on paper which explore themes of three dimensional space and receding surfaces. For most of my life I have worked as calligrapher and letter carver. Some examples of my lettering work are shown here, in which extracts from the literary greats are carved into humble house bricks. I also show some other paintings including my painted renditions of Fontana's slashed canvases. I live and work in the city of Canterbury, UK
