ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Rarely do I paint nature with a human element in it. The lighthouse at Cape St Francis is the highest masonry lighthouse on the South African coastline. It really is a beautiful structure. The painting depicts it in the distance with focus on the foreground. The composition of white in the foam of the wave leading to the lighthouse was what attracted me to do this work from the many photographs I took on the day. The vivid colours of rocks under water and on the shoreline provides a warm feel and interesting focal point.
