About The Artwork
This watercolor is painted in early spring across the fjord. The mountains above the city of Akureyri in North Iceland are still snowy, but the river has become ice-free. Watercolors are a tricky medium since mistakes can not easily be corrected. If you do a big mistake it's best to throw the painting away and start on a new one. And painting outdoors in Iceland, usually is not easy because of the ever changing weather. But there are a few good days and then the painter uses the opportunity to use his palette, paper and easels.
