ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This is inspired by the phenomenon of sleep paralysis and the unexpected discovery that this unpleasant phenomenon can be the entrance to so-called astral projection. Sleep paralysis is a state, during waking up or falling asleep, in which a person is aware but unable to move or speak. During an episode, one may hallucinate (hear, feel, or see things that are not there), which often results in fear. Astral projection (or astral travel) is a term used in esotericism to describe an intentional out-of-body experience(OBE) that assumes the existence of a soul or consciousness called an "astral body" that is separate from the physical body and capable of traveling outside it throughout the universe. The picture is framed in a simple wooden frame and ready to hang.
