Even as a child in her native city of St. Petersburg, Russia, spending time in her brother's art studio and in Russian museums, Katya was enthusiastic about art. That excitement was coupled with talent. At age 9, after training in painting and ceramics, her artwork was selected for showing at The Central Exhibition Hall of St. Petersburg. Today, decades later, that artistic journey continues. She is an accomplished realist artist, Professional Program graduate and instructor at Studio Incamminati, School for Contemporary Realist Art, in Philadelphia, founded by world-renowned realist painter Nelson Shanks. Katya maintains studios in Philadelphia and St. Petersburg and works on a wide variety of subjects: portraits and figures, city scenes and rural landscapes, still life and floral compositions. Katya's work has been exhibited in many well-known American galleries, including Artworks at the Philadelphia Museum of Arts, the National Arts Club in New York, Maurice Sternberg Galleries in Chicago, Newman Galleries in Philadelphia and Philadelphia's historic City Hall. She continues to exhibit in her native city of St. Petersburg, Russia, in prestigious juried Salon exhibitions and her paintings are in numerous private and corporate collections worldwide, including Sunoco and ARCWheeler. Born and raised in Saint Petersburg, the cultural capital of Russia. Her father was a chief of operations department of the country's largest shipping company, and her mother was a physicist and a descendant of the Russian hero, Peter Telushkin, featured in the famous painting by Russian artist G. Chernetzov, "Parade Celebrating the End of Military Action in the Kingdom of Poland on Tsaritsa Meadow in St. Petersburg on 6 October 1831" which hangs in The State Russian Museum. Katya studied at the Stieglitz St. Petersburg State Academy of Art and Industry in St. Petersburg, Russia, concentrating on classical painting, drawing and decorative textiles. While a student, she frequently traveled to Western Europe to paint city scenes en plein-air. She graduated with a Master of Arts Degree in 1995. Her diploma work, a hand woven tapestry "Seven Feet Under Keel," was included in "The Best Diploma Works" exhibition at Stieglitz Museum. In 1999, she was inducted into the League of Designers of Russia.
