About The Artwork
"Oriental Backyard" is part of the "Miracles On Miracle Manor" collection. It was first exhibited in 2007, along with the entire collection, in a one-person exhibition at the Howard County Conservancy in Maryland, USA. The painting is of many oriental trees and shrubs - Japanese Maples, Japanese Dogwoods, and more. The turquoise green water of the pool in the background was a perfect backdrop to the red berries on the Japanese Dogwood tree, in September. By juxtaposing opposite colors (Red and Green), I am able to create a dynamic, vibrating spatial relationship between each element...Van Gogh was a master at this. The painting is done in oil, and is on linen canvas - linen gives the oil paint a longer life-span than cotton canvas. The painting is professionally framed, and is ready to hang. Framed Dimensions: 29.5" x 23.5". Each piece of artwork that I have created comes signed and dated, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity. Shyami Codippily was born in Sri Lanka, and moved to the USA with her family. She has been an artist since she was three years old, painting in oil, watercolors, and gouache; sculpting in marble; and creating various 2-d and 3-d works with various other materials. She uses her art as an avenue to communicate her experiences with nature. She has received numerous National and International awards throughout her artistic career. Shyami is also the author, artist, and producer of three acclaimed books on Howard County, Maryland: Farms Never To Be Forgotten, Churches Never To Be Forgotten, and Manors Never To Be Forgotten. Each piece of artwork that she has created comes signed and dated, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity.
