The painting of planet Pluto was painted physically on top of an iPad with a recycled wood frame. My new art series “Life” documents the evolution of all of the planets in conjunction with the mythological tales of the Gods. Using obsolete iPads as a substrate, paper collage, found objects, acrylic paint, and mediums narratives of the planets are composted documenting a moment frozen in time. Throughout history, information was received from word of mouth to letters, newspapers, magazines, and now technological outlets. Technology has begun to replace various print forms of the past. But unlike past platforms technology possesses the clique narrative of out with the old and in with the new. Items such as iPads have become a commodity that's thrown out as fast as it's developed, replacing the old with the new and improved version. The iPads stand as a reminder that eventually all iPads of the future will be replaced as many paper sources have when they become obsolete. The “Life” series strives to convey the universal law of rhythm according to Hermes Trismegistus. Trismegistus states "Everything flows, out and in; everything has its tides; all things rise and fall; the pendulum swing manifests in everything; the measure of the swing to the right is the measure of the swing to the left; rhythm compensates.”. Everything in life is created, evolves, and ceases to exist in the end. The natural cycle of life stands as a reminder to journey through life living it to the fullest because nothing stays the same.

Brittany lives and works in Houston, Texas where she was born and raised. She obtained her BFA in 2021 from the Academy of Art University. Her background as a painter, photographer, and innovator inspires her multifaceted compositions. Combining painting, unconventional objects, and sculpture she creates narratives based on memories exploring adolescent youth. Her most recent art series “Home Sweet Home” documents collective experiences that resonate with memories of childhood juxtaposed with the reality of adulthood. Using hazy acrylic layers creates an illusion of ghostly images imitating the reality of memory. Somethings you remember and some things you don’t but with repetitive reflections on each memories you begin to remember hazy little details of what was forgotten. Brittany's artworks strive to stand as a reminder to enjoy moments of the present instead of chasing fleeting moments of nostalgia of the past. Brittany’s works are included in the permanent collections of the International Collage Museum. Exhibitions including The Contemporary Art Museum Houston: Contents under pressure exhibit (09), The De Young Museum: New Generations Matter Exhibit (2012), Arts Benicia: Fragments The art of collage and assemblage Exhibition (2015), Art Museum of South Texas (2020).
