My studio is located outside the city on the territory of gardens and in autumn, when the foliage falls and summer residents leave their gardens, it becomes clear what is growing in neighbor beds. Last fall, passing by a neighbor's plot, I saw this amazingly beautiful blooming ornamental cabbage on the black loosened earth. So luxurious in shape and color shades that I immediately wanted to photograph it in order to depict it later in painting. For the composition of the picture, I chose the theme of the love chase of two birds with one stone, or rather, a fleeing white rabbit and a hare chasing him. Apparently, the white rabbit is a female and it can be assumed that, as she runs away, she thinks: “Am I running too fast?” As for the hare chasing her, this is a male who, at the moment of the chase, turns his head to the viewer and asks with a glance: “Look how gorgeous I am!” All this action takes place against the backdrop of black earth and bright pink flowering cabbage.

For the past few years, I have been concentrating on the theme of animate and inanimate nature. Starting with the theme of roots and delving into the beauty and variety of small details of flowering meadows. In the context of nature, I include lonely images of people as an integral part of the living world. In depicting human beings, for me, it is not only their physical beauty that is important, but also the transmission of their momentary mood, psychological well-being. Sometimes in my drawings I allow myself to be ironic about myself and what I find funny or remarkable in other people. But at the same time, I consciously avoid depressive and aggressive images, because it contradicts my inner ethic not to multiply the violence in the world. I would like to classify my work as Magical Realism, but I think my work reflects more of a psychological Existentialism, looking for its embodiment in natural motifs. 1995-1999 studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts and in 1999.
