About The Artwork

I've interpreted the complex science of a particle's properties by bending and curling the surface then, using a multiplying effect with either drill holes and saw cuts, unraveling to reveal it in the 2D form. Protons and neutrons are represented as one expressive event of 3 holes, and electrons as a set of two opposing pair of cuts (Atomic number 8). Painting in this way allows me to engage with both front and back surfaces at the same time – a tangible expression of how the natural 'tiny' world maybe formed, by complicated structures and events that are concealed from us. Materials: Gesso on JPP Synthetic, 566 gsm, colour paper 270gsm. Limed box frame* with 3mm plexiglass, hand painted spacers and structural frames for floating. * Size provided above includes the frame.

I’m re-imagining our universe — entangled in the void of spacetime.’ My curved canvases are a way of initiating events. Distributing distinct expressions and reciprocal marks to the surface geometry, from all sides and angles, in ways that cannot be achieved on the flat picture plane - yet the results of the work are always presented in the flat form. A metaphor for how we observe. Since 2004, I've been evolving this aesthetic thought. A style of abstraction that is deeply rooted in the present context of a multi-dimensional universe and the way nature itself could be.
