ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Riddarholmen Island (or Knight's Island) is one of Stockholm's oldest neighborhoods and the city's smallest administrative unit (according to documents, only one person lives here!). That's why it is a great place for a leisurely stroll, as you will never meet noisy crowds of residents and tourists here. The island was originally called the "Island of the Gray Monks" because it was home to a Franciscan monastery whose novices wore long, dark robes. This is a beautiful gothic architecture church I love to paint. The painting is done on canvas in the summer of 2024
