About The Artwork

My newest series are paintings of bugs, I was inspired to paint bees when a couple of bees flew at me, freaking me out a little, then one landed on my shirt. I thought they must want me to paint them. While I painted bees I remembered how I loved bugs as a kid, so I’ve been painting my favorites, endangered or are just pretty. A large, brightly colored moth, seen towards the end of Summer. It’s a night flying moth of sand dunes, woodlands, meadows, parks and gardens. The caterpillars are large, black & covered in hairs. Commonly called “Wooly Bears”. They feed on stinging nettles and many garden plants. In many cultures they are associated with transformation and the afterlife. They are said to be messengers of those that have passed on and a symbol that they’ll never be forgotten. Oil and Cold wax on 20x24x.75 inch canvas, the edges are painted, will be wired before shipping

I started painting in bars, restaurants and the street, I painted life, people, music, street scenes. I painted on a lot of different surfaces, wood glass, metal, with oils, acrylics, pastels. My scenes started abstracting, which is life with the reality slightly peeled away to reveal the underlying energy, emotion, and movement. When I paint dancers I want the viewer to feel the movement, when I paint musicians I want them to feel the music. My abstractions of musicians and dancers have evolved into a style which could be referred to as “Rhythmic Cubism”. My palette ranges from raw earth tone harmonies to luscious crimson and scarlet to cerulean blues and deep ultramarine. High contrast and the dynamic use of line add to the power of my work. “My surrealistic world is converted into visual poetry inspired by passion, feelings and personal experiences. I paint a divers and complete story. Phrases are expressed in paint with very elaborate colors that reach the eyes of your soul.”
