About The Artwork

“Pasajero” like all my work in general is a delirious game between comics, fiction cinema and street graffiti, a language that is very close to me, where social and economic deformity, environmental disaster, equivocal territorial definitions, The uncertain future of our planet and the digital omnipresence are portrayed daily on the walls of the city. They all seem like topics coming out of an apocalyptic script, but on the contrary, they are very current topics that concern us in the macro and micro system, but where I I only have partial visions of the speed with which events happen, adding also the component of continuous bombardment of photographic images on small screens, which is why simple realistic or figurative reproduction has long ceased to be part of my work and on the canvas the potential invasion of fiction in the real world or vice versa is always recreated, creating its own abstract reality, in a game that does not pass between the imaginary and the real, but rather between the recognizable and the unrecognizable. where color, drawing and stain become the protagonists again and again.

Painting for me has always been a non-verbal language that I do not always know clearly what I want to communicate, but I have always felt the urgent need to do so. My process when working is alone and daily, nourishing myself with my own imagination, which allows me not to subordinate myself to a single form, I like to invent new images and scenarios, my own experiences or those of others give me ideas, I always face the canvas in white with no project in mind other than to continue, stain and thought merge into one, I have no planned answers, the path is full of multiple changes of direction, many hours of contemplation, decisions and actions, I limit myself to suggesting and not forcing an objective, guided by instinct in the first place but always trying to find the perfect fit between the solution and the intention, a search that I also try to achieve through emotional sincerity, color channels emotion, I think of colors and the drawing contains while providing different readings, I like to take the viewer's eyes from one place to another on the canvas without discovering everything immediately. My painting deliberately proposes a state of tension between the visceral and the mechanical and juxtaposes the industrial with the habitable, reflecting the contradiction so typical of the urban environment, articulating a story based on the historical tension between abstraction and figuration, a tenuous interval between the figurative and the abstract creating an imaginary space that configures itself through the proposal of a language inherited on the one hand from academic training and on the other from the representation systems of comics, graffiti and science fiction cinema.
