This work is a modern interpretation of genre painting. Domestic still life with the teapot on the table conveys the idea that characters are ordinary people in the middle of an everyday life situation: they are having a meal, drinking tea.
Nevertheless none of them seem to be actually eating or drinking. Their complex emotional states makes them absolutely self-immersed. It creates tension, intensified by the presence of the dark figure in the center. It looks, like a shadow, which moved from the background to the foreground. The idea of bringing something from the background to the foreground, from the shadows into the bright light is the main idea of the work. It is a metaphor for unveiling something hidden, the inner state of self-immersion, which people usually hide in everyday life.
The work is intentionally fragmentary, there are  fragments of other characters, cropped by the frame of the work.
It should mean, that there are more participants of this metaphorical tea party, than we see.

In my artworks I focus on contemporary expressionistic figurative painting. I like to immerse myself in inner world of my characters, full of passion and tension. I use vivid colors, dynamic composition and contrast between textured and flat-colored surfaces to convey this inner state and bring it to the viewer.
