This work is a modern interpretation of genre painting. Domestic still life with the teapot on the table conveys the idea that characters are ordinary people in the middle of an everyday life situation: they are having a meal, drinking tea. It creates tension, intensified by the presence of the dark figure in the center. It looks, like a shadow, which moved from the background to the foreground.
