This pastel is from a series of fruit and objects, mainly dishes, where I wanted to focus on the reflection and refraction of light and the transparency of glass. I have been inspired by the works of Vermeer and Caravaggio and their use of light to produce this artwork. The addition of butterflies adds a touch of whimsy and eccentricity to the work making the still life less still.
