Picklecombe Fort, Plymouth Sound Painting

Painted Plein Air from an advantage point on the Minadhu part of the Mount Edgcumbe Estate overlooking Plymouth Sound and Cawsand Bay. The Fort now has been tastefully converted to residential apartments with a view 'to die for'. With 3 feet thick walls, I dare say it will be just as prominent in 2040 as it was when built in 1840. In my painting, I try to hold the viewer's eye and let their eye convert my big brush and pallet knife strokes into the way I have 'seen' the subject. Oil paint manipulates to suit my style, sometimes my mark is perfect sometimes perfect by accident...I will take them all. Hope you 'feel' it.
