About The Artwork
"Pink Desert" is the third piece in Noelle Phares's embroidered Joshua Tree series, which are an ode to desert landscapes of the American West. In summer months, desert landscapes dry out under the sun, becoming more homogenous as desiccation strains life on the surface. When the rains come, life springs out, drenching the horizon with forgotten splashes of color. This is an original watercolor, gouache, and acrylic painting. Botanical elements in the foreground are embroidered with light green, magenta, burnt umber, and light yellow thread.
