ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Prayer, watercolour and gouache on paper. One of Melinda's pleasure as an artist is to experiment with different styles and methods of painting and that's how "Prayer" was created. Her aim was to achieve organic texture look through painting. The actual size of the painting is a bit bigger than 28x19cm because there is an extra 2cm white border around the painted area so it can be easily framed. Prayer is part of the body of work titled: People&Stones Watercolour and gouache on cold pressed watercolour paper.

-Melinda is based in London. Her work focuses on philosophical and empirical questions emerging out of human experience, both individual and collective. Her main focus is the human condition and one's internal world one experiences amidst the expectations of society. She is interested in the present and the past, her paintings explore different points of view on existence. -Experimenting with colour is important in her creative process, as well as partially deconstructing the forms which allows her to find an equilibrium between figuration and abstraction. -Melinda was born as an ethnic Hungarian in Transylvania (Romania) in 1976 under the communist regime, and as a teenager she witnessed the sudden uprising of the people, which eventually ended it. She found the transition between the silent acceptance into the outburst of desire for freedom fascinating. Later this brought up Melinda’s interest in Psychology. -In 2009 she graduated from the University of Art and Design, Cluj receiving her BA in Fine Art, Painting. -In 2013 she moved to England.
