Predator and Prey Painting

"Predator and Prey" captures the moment when the duck's goose is cooked! Surrounded, cornered, and no way out, except to fight, our hero (the duck), gets ready to defend itself from the ravenous honey bears. I am fascinated with taking very traditional forms of art and pushing its boundaries to create something new. The result is a series of still lifes titled "In the Land of Giants". Through these paintings I am exploring ways of making still lifes more interactive with the viewer. Through playing with perspective and narration, I want the viewer to feel as if they are a part of the still life. All the scenes in this series are narrative and the stories behind each image range from the sinister to the delightful. "In the Land of Giants" is both a nod to classical art and a push towards expressive realism.
