ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This image is about the intertwining of past and present. I grew up in a small village in northern Kazakhstan. I was in the wild most of my childhood. Walking through meadows and groves and in addition cycling along narrow paths. Collecting mushrooms and berries. Constant presence of pets and fleeting encounters with wild animals. When I was 17, I went to the capital of Kazakhstan, Almaty. Over time, I moved to the Czech Republic and now I live in the small town of Bílina in the middle of Europe. When I painted a portrait of my daughter with my cat Nella, all my childhood memories flashed in my head. This picture blends the past with the present, the fate of my daughter and me. In a way, it is a self-portrait with a drop of nostalgia for a naive little girl living in an adult woman. I use quality canvas in a relative composition of cotton and synthetics for painting. After complete drying, I glue the canvas to hardboard using a special transparent double-sided adhesive foil. As a last point, repainted with protective varnish.     Oil painting on canvas glued to hardboard size 45x59 cm. Treated with the final varnish. Framed in a wooden frame.

Nadezhda Gellmundova was born in Semipalatinsk Kazakhstan in 1975. From childhood, she tended to work in various artistic fields. Drawing, pottery, crochet, sewing, ikebana and much more. Over time, she got into oil painting. As part of self-education, she studied books by American, Russian and Czech authors. Nadezhda's art is many-folded.
