ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Original oil painting 15 x 15 cm depicting a prickly pear fruit with cut lace linen collage. Prickly pear is a cactus fruit which is ready to eat in the summer months in Cyprus. It needs to be peeled carefully due to the "prickly" skin to reveal the sweet, fleshy fruit. The cut lace linen is taken from a piece of Lefkara Lace which is a traditional form of embroidery with a long history, hand crafted by the women in the beautiful village of Lefkara, Cyprus. Painted on a 2 cm thick wood panel that I prepare myself, using fine artists materials, with love and care. Varnished for extra protection. Ready to hang with hook on back.
