ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This artwork has been awarded and selected for inclusion into "Shades of Blue Art Exhibition" January, 2024, organized by Camelback Gallery. The work is part of my last series "Unfolding the rainbow" - because emotions, from an artistic point of view, have their own rainbow and, it was awarded in the competition "Shades of Blue", 2024. The composition of all works, from the dimensional point of view, is related to the Fibonacci Sequence which led me to the realization of some Surreal constructions. “Primary Blue” is composed by two paintings: 20x70 cm plus 50x70 cm and it has all the edges painted. In realization of paintings, I used just the three primary colors: red, yellow, and blue, complemented in a proportion less than 10% by the achromatic white and black. On the outside, to emphasize the central character of the three main colors (red, yellow, and blue) I used liquid silver/gold foil. In creating this series, I started from the idea that the color is almost always a social reality more than a visual one. Ontologically impure, because they always oscillate between themselves and the viewer, the colors are available for any kind of appropriation and they represent an unspoken language. They are chromatic words that shapes our lives. The color, for both the artist and the viewer, is often a thought that conveys an emotion and this is the message of my works.

Alida Velea was born in 1967, in a small provincial town, Slănic Prahova. She currently lives and works in Bucharest, Romania. With a degree in engineering, the decision to transition to the field of fine arts came from a strong inner passion. Thus, a few years later after graduating from the first university, Alida obtained a First Class Honors Degree, in Fine Arts, from the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. Alida's artistic focus lies in the exploration of one's own cultural identity and its interaction with the personal and social events that shape our lives. Her approach to painting predominantly embodies a figurative style, which she integrates into a cubism with slightly abstract or surrealist notes. She often combines this traditional approach with modern technologies and diverse mediums, resulting in the creation of unique and authentic works of art. Her works have been included in various exhibitions, both personal and group, including "RENOVART: Inner Colors, 100 artists for the future" at the Naval League - Magna Grecia, Matera, Italy. This year, in addition to the personal exhibition "Romania Stamp Collection: 1967-1985" in Piacenza, Italy she exhibited both at the Contemporary Art Fair in New York (USA) and at the exhibitions: "The way of seeing the world", Heidenreichstein (Austria) and "Art That Unites", Munich (Germany). Upcoming exhibitions include van Gogh gallery in Madrid (Spain), Red Dot Miami (USA, 2024) and Paris Art Fair (France, 2025).
