Pyrenees Landscape XVI - The Tree In my latest painting, I return to one of my favorite subjects: a venerable Eucalyptus Tree in the Victorian Pyrenees region. This tree has appeared in my previous works, but now it takes center stage. Its form has always evoked the cypresses of Japanese woodblock prints and ink art. Inspired by this, I have sought to reinterpret its elegance in oil paint, infusing it with an Australian flavor through color and texture. The tree’s graceful, fragile silhouette embodies exceptional beauty and resonates with the Japanese Zen philosophy of impermanence. It serves as a reminder of the fleeting nature of our world and encourages living in the moment.
