ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting is inspired by stories that my grandfather told me when I was a child. He was reared in the Canadian and Maine woods and during the harsh winters snowshoes were a necessity. This painting, done in 2014 just returned from a two year traveling exhibition in Canada titled "Acadie Mythique", which featured French Canadian and French Canadian decent artists.

I was born in Waterville, Maine in 1958. I am a native of Maine whose paintings depict the land and people of my home state in various incarnations. I am an Associate Professor of Art who teaches painting and drawing at the University of Maine in Orono. My paintings have been exhibited widely, including the Baltimore Museum of Art, Maryland Art Place, School 33 Art Center, The Park School, the Center for Maine Contemporary Art in Rockport, the University of Maine in Orono, and in 2006 at Whitney Art Works in Portland, Maine. My paintings are held in collections both nationally and internationally. My work is represented by the Courthouse Gallery Fine Art, Ellsworth, Maine.
