Razor Clam Dig Painting

Watercolor lends itself well to the Pacific Nortwest scenery, which is frequently misty, often ethereal. Digging clams is an activity familiar to many in the Pacific Northwest, but is an unexpected painting subject. Not unlike the unexpected way a yellow raincoat or boots pierce the thick gray blanket that covers the Washington and Oregon coasts much of the year. Clam digging is an activity that can be enjoyed by such a broad range of people, old and young, rich and poor; a group of harvesters able to be separate but united with a common goal next to the vast dark ocean.
