The red cardinal to the top of the composition is observing the viewer in silence. In the lower panel a hummingbird hovers, suspended in motion, and to the left a woodpecker's wings can just be made out. I wanted to create a sense of movement as well as stillness with loose brushstrokes.

Simon Boyd
Argentina
Simon Boyd, born in London 1978, studied Fine Art at Middlesex, 1997-2001. He has lived in Argentina since 2007. Simon has held solo shows in both Argentina and the UK; ‘The Jousters Banquet’ at the British Arts Centre, Buenos Aires, in 2009 and ‘Also Light…’ at Anteros Arts Foundation, Norwich, 2023 to name a few. He has also participated in the International Contemporary Art Biennial, Buenos Aires, in 2016. A key inspiration for the colour and depth of his work is the South American landscape of La Pampa. Simon's use of palette echoes the sense of vitality and purity the landscape there evokes.
