One late September I travelled to the Village of Assisi in the Umbria Region of Italy where St. Francis is the patron saint. This calming landscape depicts the beautiful village in the background while the fields in the foreground are bright red and orange in the Autumn sunlight.

The essence of my work centers on impressions of a subject and how I express them through line, composition and color. What inspires me about a subject usually determines the style in which I express my interpretations, with the goal of capturing the viewer’s interest. I have always been fascinated by what perspective and line do to create a visual narrative using color and its endless possibilities. My work, sometimes complex and other times simple in its geometrical arrangements, possesses a certain vitality and movement created through the use of palette knife and brush to create energy and motion. Other times, bush techniques are used to create subtle and introspective compositions while exploring the possibilities of perspective within two-dimensional space, influenced by early Cubism.
