ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Hans Heysen became internationally famous for painting the workers on the land and "Majestic Gum Trees" and "Red Gold" was one, painted in 1903. My grandfather painted a tribute to that painting in 1973, and to follow tradition, I have reinterpreted that scene, full of my own contemporary sentiment, in a series of works. I hope that viewers feel, the excitement and energy derived from connecting with nature, and history, ( family and art history).
