ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The Kalachakra Mandala is a wheel of time. It has been used in ancient cultures in Nepal/Tibet as a process of connecting with the divine and is the universal symbol of Buddhism. Structurally the Square (stupa), although depicted as flat, is actually a three-dimensional, five-storey mansion. It is the residence of the Kalachakra deity - a fully enlightened being who resides in the center. Mandalas are made for peace, prosperity and protection.
